First Day of our Last Trimester

Today marks the first day of our last trimester, our family of two will soon become a family of three (four if you count our pup). This past week has been rough physically, the back pain has been rough and the indigestion has been super intense.

Sleeping has been...difficult to say the least. Some night I get a couple of scattered hours and some nights I get a consecutive 4 or so. I'm sure my body is just prepping me for the Peanut's arrival. Her kicks are getting stronger and more frequent, she is favoring my right side/ribs. Her feet (I'm assuming) are quite the little movers.

My bi-weekly appointments start after my next appointment in May. I can have another 4d sonogram in a couple of weeks to see what the Peanut looks like and considering we haven't seen her since Week 20 I can only imagine how developed she is now.

My baby showers are scheduled and we have ordered the car seat so the wait for Baby A begins! Only 12 weeks to go!

Cauliflower Week

I receive those nifty weekly emails that explain the ands, ifs, and buts of a growing baby and baby bump. This week she is the size of a cauliflower, approximately, at 2 pounds 14 inches long. What I found most interesting in this week's email was a blurb about hiccups. Since Saturday I've felt rhythmic bumps that last about 90 seconds or so. I couldn't figure out what it was, it wasn't strong enough to be a kick and it was too patterned to be any other type of movement. Alas, the peanut has the hiccups. I can only imagine what she looks like in there hiccuping away.

Monday was my glucose test and while the liquid I had to drink wasn't terrible, the nausea afterwards was. ll. The doc hasn't called yet so I'm taking that as a good sign. I would hate to have to repeat that test again, it was not pleasant.

I've been sleeping okay lately. Still getting up at least twice to use the bathroom but the in between sleeping is pretty good. My back, with the exception of a few nights, hasn't been too sore lately. This morning I was a little stiff but the hot water from the shower cured me almost instantly.

The peanut's room is almost complete. Her furniture is assembled, all we need now is some decorations. The bassinet is hanging out in her room until she arrives. Last night the husband and I hear the dog rummaging around upstairs. My husband went to investigate because like a toddler, a quiet dog means he's up to no good and low and behold, the dog is in the bottom of the bassinet. I definitely predicted that a month ago when we put it together, I was just surprised it took him that long.

I'm rocking a prominent baby bump these days. In fact, I look like I've swallowed a basketball. A moving basketball that is, as she is definitely moving more and more these days. I enjoy sitting on the couch watching my belly bounce around. What fun she must be having. Other than a couple mood swings I've been feeling pretty great.

13 more weeks until we take the biggest leap of our lives and welcome the peanut. I couldn't be more excited.

A Growing Peanut

This week marks the second to last week in my second trimester. Our peanut will be here before we know it.

I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and have to have a glucose test done before my next appointment. I have had a ton of Easter candy so I'm going to wait until next week so I can cut down on my sugar intake. Fingers crossed I pass because if I fail I have to take a three hour glucose test. The rest of my appointment went well. I put on 6 lbs last week. I was SHOCKED but the doctor didn't seem concerned. I can tell you I will be cutting out the chocolate donuts I've been feasting on for the past two months or so.

The peanut has been super active today. I laid down for a bit after work for a while and my belly danced around. I enjoyed seeing her move and bounce around.

Easter at our house was great but exhausting. We're very lucky to have family that didn't mind traveling to spend the holiday with us but I'm still catching up on sleep after last weekend. We now have all of her furniture in her room, a little decorating to do and it will be all set for her arrival. We're getting excited and nervous.

I cannot wait to see what she looks like and I especially can't wait to hold her for the first time. Come on July!

Another Week Down..Almost

This past weekend the husband and I traveled to Boston for a weekend getaway for his birthday. I ate a lot, he drank a lot of beer, and we walked. A LOT. In fact, we walked so much that Friday night when I finally sat down to kick my feet up, I couldn't bend my toes. The weekend was great and the alone time with my husband was even better, despite my sausagie looking toes.

This week has brought another interesting pregnant side effect with it. The fact that I feel like I'm constantly peeing myself. Seriously, every time I stand up I leak. Gross? Yes, I know. But I did call the doctor today to confirm that it's normal, which apparently it is. Fun side note, amniotic fluid apparently smells like cleaning solution. She advised to call back if the liquid has an odor similar to Mr. Clean. I thought to myself, Doc, I'm on the phone with you now because I'm leaking water, clearly I will I be standing in your office if Mr. Clean decides  to grace me with his presence.

I head to the doctor's on Monday for the next check up and fingers crossed everything is still good swimmingly!

Holy Six Months Batman!

Today I'm six months pregnant. Where has time gone? I cannot believe our peanut will be here in 16 weeks. I'm getting bigger by the day and the peanut is moving more and more every day. Last night I got a pretty powerful kick that actually made me jump. I'm feeling great this week; my hormones have definitely calmed down a bit.

The husband and I are headed to Boston this weekend for a birthday getaway for him. I'm looking forward to being away for a few days, and hoping that my body cooperates with all the walking around we want to do. My mom came up over the weekend with a family member's truck and took out some of the overcrowded furniture in the baby's room. It's actually starting to look like a nursery. The crib should be here next Friday and I'm going to start working on the Alphabet Wall pretty soon, too.

The dog is still claiming the baby's room as his own. A habit that is going to be brutal to break. I'm more or less dreading that as he's become accustomed to laying on the futon when we're not home. But I also know she won't get a moment's peace if he's in there with her, his whining will be unbearable for us all. One bridge at a time though.

So far so good. We're leaping into month six with smiles.

Week 23

I don't have a fancy name for this week's post, but we're sailing smoothly along the second trimester. Physically, I would say I'm doing pretty great. The back aches are still not fun and if anything getting worse but I'm adjusting and for the most part I'm feeling wonderful. I have the energy to go and do unlike the first trimester, which is refreshing. I'm definitely eating for two now. I feel like I am constantly hungry. A fact that is starting to reflect in my appearance. I am sporting a small basketball these days.

Emotionally, well that's another story. My hormones are up and down like a giant roller coaster. Some days are great, some days are not great. Traffic can send me into tears. Commercials can send me into tears. Some days I'm beyond happy, other days I'm beyond depressed. I never know what I'm going to get in the morning.

The peanut is definitely moving more and her kicks and taps are getting stronger. The other day her kick was so strong it made me double over. Perhaps there is a soccer player in the making... although, I know nothing of soccer so maybe a really agile dancer.

All in all, we're doing great. Welcome Week 23!

Kickboxing Baby

Week 22 is here and with it this morning came a kickboxing peanut. She kicked and kicked and kicked this morning. Some days she's so active, others not so much. My doctor's appointment Monday went well. She's measuring right at 22 weeks and so far, everything is good. At my next appointment I get a script for a glucose test and red blood cell check. I was hoping the days of blood drawing was over. Alas, it's not.

Her bassinet and dresser together in the room. I can't wait to get the crib and changing table so the room starts to look like her own. I've ordered the letters for the alphabet wall and hopefully this weekend will find some inspiration to start decorating them. My dad is painting a scene from Dr. Seuss' Oh the Places You'll Go on a white bookcase that a friend gave me. I can't wait to see what it looks like.

All in all we're soaring through the 5th month. Getting more excited every day to meet the peanut!
