The baby bump is starting to form. It's still small and really looks more less like I've put on a few pounds but I'm starting to see it. My energy is back, which is great and I am starting to have cravings.
We find out next Friday whether we will be having a boy or girl and we can't wait. I had a dream not too long ago that it was a girl but the dream was pretty fictional in nature so I'm not sure how much of that I believe. My husband is still routing for a boy.
The weekly email I receive said the baby can is starting to hear our voices. We're pretty sure he or she is wondering who this character we call Tucker is, after all we are constantly yelling his name. I've already said the baby's first words are going to be Tucker! No! I'm anxious to see how our first "baby" reacts with our actual first baby.
Looking forward to what week 15 brings!

Second Trimester!
Where have the last three months gone? I feel like just yesterday I was sitting at the kitchen table staring blankly at the wall. Now, we're picking out nursery themes and looking at car seats and have a name picked out for the peanut.
My body is still not reflecting my pregnant status, which I'm not necessarily complaining about. In fact, I haven't gained a pound per the doctor's scale. My clothes are a little snugger and my boobs a little bigger but no protruding baby belly or maternity clothes for me... yet.
My doctor's appointment yesterday went great and the genetic test results came back negative, which the husband and I were thrilled about. The doctor listened to the peanut's heartbeat and sent us on our way. We have decided to do the 3D ultrasound and will find out in about 2 weeks if the peanut is a boy or girl.
How far we've come in the past three months!

Growing Pains
Last Friday I had dinner with a couple friends. Leaving dinner I had very uncomfortable pains in my stomach. I chalked it up to a taco dinner. I woke up Saturday morning and the pain was still there. Sunday, the same. Monday was a little better and Tuesday I took off work to try and rest. I'm fully aware that my uterus is going to be stretching to monstrous proportions and growing pains will come with it. But 5 days? Eeks. I called the doctor this morning to make sure everything is kosher and I'm currently waiting for a call back. In the meantime, I email my husband to let him know I've phoned the doctor for confirmation (that it's just growing pains). Below is a snippet of our conversation.
Husband: I’m sure its just growing pains, but it wouldn’t hurt just to make sure.
Me: The best way to describe it is that it feels like a hot fist is pushing against my stomach
Husband: Maybe the peanut is trying to fist pump you?

Clearly that's what happening at Week 13.

(S)he Looks Like An Alien
I had a genetic screening done yesterday to check to see if the baby could have Down's or Trisonomy defect. During the "procedure", which is really nothing more than an ultrasound and finger prick, I was able to see our developing son or daughter. Hands down, the coolest thing I've seen to date. I saw he or she moving about, drinking fluid, stretching, flipping and flopping all about my uterus. I saw fingers and toes and eye sockets and shoulders. It was amazing. The tech I had was extremely nice and sent me home with 6 new pictures to share with my husband. I was weary at first of getting too overly invested in this small child, given the fact that the pregnancy was still early and the chance that something could go wrong. That flew out the window yesterday. I am in love with a little person I've yet to meet. Thankfully I'm almost through the 1st trimester.
We get the test results back in about a week or so and I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying a nightly prayer that our peanut is healthy and growing as he or she should. I'm looking forward to finding out the sex of the baby in a couple more weeks. I did some price comparisons on 3D sonograms last night, which can tell us about a month sooner if the baby is a he or a she. My husband is indifferent so I'm not sure we're going to do it but it's fruit for thought. My energy levels have picked back up and my morning sickness comes and goes randomly. I still get a bit queasy at night but it's much more manageable than it was.
We're leaping into Week 12 with smiles.
