I had a genetic screening done yesterday to check to see if the baby could have Down's or Trisonomy defect. During the "procedure", which is really nothing more than an ultrasound and finger prick, I was able to see our developing son or daughter. Hands down, the coolest thing I've seen to date. I saw he or she moving about, drinking fluid, stretching, flipping and flopping all about my uterus. I saw fingers and toes and eye sockets and shoulders. It was amazing. The tech I had was extremely nice and sent me home with 6 new pictures to share with my husband. I was weary at first of getting too overly invested in this small child, given the fact that the pregnancy was still early and the chance that something could go wrong. That flew out the window yesterday. I am in love with a little person I've yet to meet. Thankfully I'm almost through the 1st trimester.
We get the test results back in about a week or so and I'm keeping my fingers crossed and saying a nightly prayer that our peanut is healthy and growing as he or she should. I'm looking forward to finding out the sex of the baby in a couple more weeks. I did some price comparisons on 3D sonograms last night, which can tell us about a month sooner if the baby is a he or a she. My husband is indifferent so I'm not sure we're going to do it but it's fruit for thought. My energy levels have picked back up and my morning sickness comes and goes randomly. I still get a bit queasy at night but it's much more manageable than it was.
We're leaping into Week 12 with smiles.
