...We had such a fun weekend! Friday night the husband and I hung out with my brother and sister-in-law preparing for my father-in-law's surprise retirement party, which was a huge success. We invited his old high school friends, his college friends, coworkers and family. I believe he was genuinely surprised. It was a good time had by all. My brother-in-law had the genius idea of replicating an AARP card for his cake. Hilarious and awesome. The cake was definitely a talking piece.
After the retirement party Saturday night, the husband and I went out for some good adult fun. We spent a couple hours hanging out with some friends. It had been awhile since just he and I went out and even though we spent more time with our respective friends, it was nice to look across the room and smile at one another.
Sunday morning we got up nice and early to take a trip to the DC zoo. Alongside our friends and their 6 week old, we braved the packed zoo with two kids under 18 months. It was actually a great trip! The Peanut LOVED the elephants, fish and sea otters. We're thinking of taking a trip to the aquarium soon. She seemed to really enjoy the tanks and the animals floating and swimming inside.
